Stacey Marinkovich announced as new head coach of Diamonds

Netball Australia made the announcement of Brisbane’s Nissan arena on Saturday anointing Marinkovich ahead of several other candidates.

Melbourne vixens coach Simone McInnis was the early favourite for the job but Marinkovich was named coach ahead of several other Super Netball candidates.

IMO Marinkovich feels like a vote for continuity and one of confidence in a lot of Lisa Alexander’s approach. Stacey is her own coach, but still worked closely with Lisa in recent years. Marinkovich will take on dual roles, coaching the Fever as well as the Diamonds until the end of the 2021 Super Netball season.

Netball Australia and Netball New Zealand have agreed to a four-Test Constellation Cup series at the end of the year where Marinkovich will coach the Diamonds if the series is able to go ahead.

The matches are set for October and are contingent on travel allowances between the two countries.
